Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Hj Bujang is a school in Miri, Sarawak that was previously under the Frog Champion School programme, spearheaded by the school’s Frog Admin and Gold Avocate, Mr Liew, in 2015. The school became a Frog Hub in 2016. After Mr Liew was transferred to Kuching in 2017, Madam Wong took over as the school’s Frog Admin and person in-charge for the school’s Hubs programme.

As Madam Wong was not as advanced in technology, the school’s initiative to use Frog slowed down as she tried to catch up as the Frog Admin. The principal of the school is a very open-minded person and understood Madam Wong’s situation, and did not push too hard but instead gave teachers room to do things creatively.

Madam Wong gradually gained confidence in utilising technology and started a team of teachers to work alongside her in running Frog initiatives in the school. The school became active again in using Frog this year. It was an overall collaborative effort of the school community and strong support from the principal and PKG that continues to drive the success of Frog in Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Hj Bujang.

Frog is making a difference in Teaching & Learning

A tool for teachers to teach better

Since its introduction to the school, teachers have found Frog to be a useful tool in preparing and conducting lessons. Teachers utilise the the convenient widgets available in the Frog VLE such as text activity and file drop to assign extra revision materials to students.

Frog is making a difference in Administration

Increase Efficiency

Some subject department committees in the school have started to use Frog as a platform to record meeting minutes and share reference links with teachers to use in teaching and learning as well as administration.

Frog is making a difference in Community Engagement

Teachers come together as a community to inspire and support one another and students in 21st Century teaching and learning

As part of the Frog Hub programme, previous and current Frog Admins, Mr Liew and Madam Wong, have worked together to maintain the school as a point of reference for teachers who attend Hub Module workshops.

In 2016, the PKG selected 11 schools to be part of the Frog Hub programme, led by Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Hj Bujang. Mr Liew, Frog Admin at the time, led by example and was able to influence other schools, such as SM Sains, SMK Agama Miri, SMK Luak, SMK Baru and SMK Merbau, to learn about Frog and utilise it in teaching and learning. Madam Wong followed suit after taking over as Frog Admin and have gather teachers to work together in their journey with Frog.

“I never knew I could handle ICT-related programmes in my life! But through Frog, I learned a lot of new things including adopting new ICT skills and gaining confidence in using ICT.”

- Madam Wong, Frog Admin.
