Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (P) Alawiyah is a religious boarding school for girls. The school is located in Kangar, Perlis and has over 700 students and 70 teachers. The school was initially based on a madrasah concept where they only accept students who failed the SRP examination, with Arabic being the main language used to teach subjects like Maths and Science. Over the years, the school showed outstanding academic achievements and was aligned with other schools.

SMKA (P) Alawiyah started with Frog in 2015 and has since been active and consistent in using Frog. The school has won numerous awards related to Frog such as school with the best dashboard on a state level and best utilisation of the Frog VLE on a national level in 2017. The state education department and state edutech department use the school as an example to other schools. The school oftens receives visits from other schools who come to learn on the best practices.

The success of Frog is driven by ICT teacher, Puan Rozita, who was the first person to start adopting Frog into teaching and learning. She gained support from the senior leadership team and began encouraging and helping other teachers in the school to adopt Frog as well. Since then, the school has cultivated Frog into its culture, not only in teaching and learning but administration as well.

Frog is making a difference in Teaching & Learning

Student Progress

Since the introduction of Frog, students have shown positive change in behaviour. Students always look forward to go to the computer lab for lessons because they know they get to learn with Frog. Not only that, students are showing more discipline and responsibility that some would stayback to use the computer lab to complete their assignments. This positive change in behaviour has led to improvement of examination results compared to previous years. Last year, more than 50% of subject results have improved.

A tool for teachers to teach better

Teachers find it easier to prepare lessons with Frog with less burden as there are a lot of other available resources on the VLE. Teachers use Sites and Assignments to create content for each subject. Not only that, teachers also utilise the ready-made quizzes on FrogPlay as well as quizzes contributed by other teachers via Community Quizzes. Frog has provided teacher the means to conduct lessons more effectively with integration of other learning applications such as Kahoot and Quizizz.

Frog is making a difference in Administration

Increase Efficiency

The school admin uses Frog as a “one stop centre” for the entire school community to access information. The school dashboard gives access to class and uniform bodies Sites, announcements on competitions and shared photos from school events. This has helped the admin effectively communicate and share information with teachers, students and even parents.
