SJKC KAI CHUNG, SARAWAK

Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Kai Chung is a rural school located in Meradong, Sarawak. The school is one of the most active Frog schools in the district with a Gold Advocate who is the school’s Frog Admin, Cikgu Ting Sii Ung. The school started using Frog in 2017 and efforts are driven by Cikgu Ting who has a strong interest in using Frog. Every time when Cikgu Ting learns new tips and tricks on Frog, she will organise sharing sessions with teachers to update them.

The school incorporates a strategy to cultivate Frog into the school culture. Each teacher is required to create and share Quizzes every week and share Sites every month. Each class takes a turn every morning to learn in the computer lab using the Frog VLE. Not only that, ICT subjects are compulsory to be taught using Sites.

Frog is making a difference in Teaching & Learning

Student Engagement

After implementing Frog in teaching and learning, students have become more interested to learn. They are more engaged during and more active in participating in classroom activities. Teachers find that students are especially excited to use FrogPlay because of the interactive and fun gaming elements. With a show of higher engagement in class, teachers are using Frog to assign assignments and quizzes on FrogPlay.

Frog is making a difference in Community Engagement

Teachers come together as a community to inspire and support one another and students in 21st Century teaching and learning

Cikgu Ting had previously taught in Johor and has experience in using Frog VLE during his services there. When he was transferred to Sarawak, he decided to help the school to kick-start using Frog VLE by initiating a series of workshops and trainings on Site and Quiz creation, as well as getting teachers onboard with eRPH. Since that move, teachers have become skillful in using Frog VLE and are encouraged to use it in their classes.

“Although teachers are still relatively new to the idea of using technology in teaching and learning, they do find that Frog is a useful tool to use in class. With more knowledge and skills, I believe teachers can improve and utilise the platform even better.”
