SK DATO TRAOH MUARA TUANG, SARAWAK

Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Traoh Muara Tuang is a rural school in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. The school has over 800 students, who live in the villages nearby, and 50 teachers. The school was introduced to Frog in 2013, but became active in 2016 when Cikgu Haizul Fahmi bin Bom was selected to be a Frog VLE master trainer for PPD Samarahan. Together with Cikgu Xavier Anak Johi, Cikgu Haizul began setting an example to other teachers by actively using Frog in class for English and Science.

In 2017, Cikgu Haizul saw the need for more schools within the district to learn about Frog and start utilising the VLE platform in teaching and learning. With support from the school’s senior leadership team, the school volunteered to be a Frog Hubs School, making SK Dato Traoh Muara Tuang to be the first school to have volunteered to be part of the Frog Hubs Programme in Sarawak.

Frog is making a difference in Teaching & Learning

Student progress

As Cikgu Haizul is a teacher for Year 4, 5 and 6 students, he sees his students gaining more confidence as they are participating and interacting more in class since he integrated Frog into classroom teaching and learning. He is also glad that students are able to gain exposure and develop their ICT skills through Frog, as most of his students come from low income families and do not have access to internet connectivity. Both Cikgu Haizul and Cikgu Xavier are always creating Sites to make lessons interesting and utilising Assignments for homework to continue encouraging students in their learning journey.

Frog is making a difference in Community Engagement

Teachers come together as a community to inspire and support one another and students in 21st Century teaching and learning

When both Cikgu Haizul and Cikgu Xavier were appointed as Frog VLE master trainers for PPD Samarahan, they saw the urgent need for schools within the district to have exposure on 21st Century education. They started conducting workshops for teachers by using the Frog Hubs Modules, PIE. Besides that, they also collaborated with SMK Kota Samarahan to conduct CHENDOL and TEH AIS workshops. The duo had helped many teachers get started with Frog and schools have benefited from their dedication, such as SK Sambir who is now actively using Frog in teaching and learning.
