Sekolah Kebangsaan Tobobon is a rural school with over 1000 students and 87 teachers. Since learning about the Frog VLE through a conference held in Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Sabah’s PKG and BTPN started actively organising workshops to activate Frog in schools. Workshops were coordinated and conducted by FrogAsia Consultants and Master Trainers in Sabah. One of the teachers who received training on Frog was Cikgu D Maryani binti Abd Hamid from SK Tobobon.

Cikgu Maryani has since then been driving Frog in her school. She started using Frog in her own classes to set an example for other teachers. She later on selected students who knew how to use Frog and were active, then trained them to help other students. The school was unable to use the computer lab since 2017 but is still using Frog through the access and media rooms.

SK Tobobon has achieved various awards and recognition in Sabah recently, one of them being the 5-Star Smart School Requisition Standard. The school is also recognised for having the best access points and for being the best professional learning community hub in Kota Kinabalu.

Frog is making a difference in Teaching & Learning

Student engagement

Through the Frog Championships, teachers are able to engage and motivate students to do more quizzes as homework and revision. Students have since shown more interest to learn and have been diligently completing quizzes.

Student progress

With consistent use of FrogPlay throughout the Frog Championships last year, students have shown improvement in core subjects such as Maths, English and Science. Due to the high demand of students wanting to use FrogPlay, the access and media rooms were open for students to login during recess time.

A tool for teachers to teach better

At the time, although still new, Cikgu Maryani found it simple to utilise Frog Boost as teaching and learning content are ready-to-use and complete with lesson objectives and learning outcomes, as well as assessments and exercises through FrogPlay.

Frog is making a difference in Community Engagement

Teachers come together as a community to support and inspire one another in 21st Century teaching and learning

SK Tobobon is one of the most active professional learning community hub in Kota Kinabalu. The school is open for training, workshops and sharing sessions among ICT teachers, Frog Admins and Frog Advocates. Cikgu Maryani is the main driver of the community hub and has supported several schools within the district to kickstart their journey with Frog.

SK Tobobon has a group of Student Advocates that are trained by Cikgu Maryani to support and mentor other students on how to use Frog. These students have since been helping their peers in ways such as logging in, accessing FrogPlay and Frog Boost for more content and overall utilising Frog for teaching and learning.
