What is Analytics?

Available to: Frog Admin.

The Analytics area of the Frog platform captures information related to the use of the Frog VLE covering areas such as user log in, site and assignment statistics.The information collected allows you to determine whether users have logged in and highlights users that have never logged into the platform.Information on site and assignment creation is captured allowing you to see how many sites and assignments have been created within a given time frame and can be viewed by tag or by author.
Click the FrogDrive icon on the Frog Bar.

Analytics Overview

Statistics within the Analytics app include:
  • The login statistics including login count, total time and average time a user has spent logged in.
  • Total number of user logins viewable by user name or user type over a selected time period.
  • Listing users who have never logged in.
  • The number of sites, viewable by tag, author, views by users and those sent to the MoE repository.
  • The number of assignments, viewable by author, tag and assignees.
The Analytics application provides statistical data about the users that are using your Frog VLE. It is useful for you to identify key information about how users are using Frog. The information may, for example, help in targeting which users may need assistance when trying to improve usage within your school.

Selecting the User Profile and Time Period

To display the data for a particular user type (staff, student, parent etc..), use the drop down menu at the top of the page. All tables and graphs will be filtered to display the users you have selected.

To display data for a specified time period, select from one of the pre-selected periods from the drop down menu or select the Choose dates… option to specify your own dates. All tables and graphs will now display data only between the date range you have specified.

Note: Data is only available up to the end of the previous day (yesterday).
The data is represented in either a line graph, a pie chart or table. Hovering your cursor over a node in the line graph will display the data represented for that node.

Hovering your cursor over a section of the pie chart will display further information about that section.

Other than the dashboard view, a table displays data in table form at the bottom of the screen. The column headers indicate the type of information displayed in each column. Clicking on a header will sort the list in that column. Clicking the header again with reverse the order.

The amount of information displayed per page can be selected using items per page button image007.
Additional pages can be viewed using the page select buttons image008.

Filtering Results

You can search for data of a particular user or tag by clicking the filter image009 button.

Enter the text for your search and click the Filter button.

When in a filtered view, a message is displayed reminding you that not all records are being displayed.
Click the Reset button to return to the full unfiltered list view.

Note: The filter button is not active in the ‘User Logins by Profile’ section as there is no further filtering available in this view.

Switching Between Views

To view the statistics for the different categories click on the category name. Click on ‘show’ to view the subcategories for each category.

Dashboard

The Dashboard area allows you to see at a glance, information for the number of logins, site visits and summary of assignment usage all on one page. All the data can be viewed for all users in the school, or for an individual user type either for the previous 7 or 30 days.

Sites

The All Sites area displays data for sites created as a table and line graph. Where data is available, a pie chart shows the most significant 10 items of information. You can see which user created each site, the tags it was created for and how many users have viewed the site. You can also identify which sites have been sent to the MoE Repository.
The table section displays the following information:
Title: The name of the Site.
Tags: The Tags the site was tagged under.
Author: The user that created the site.
Total Views: The number of times the site has been opened in total.
Unique Views: The number of times a sites has been opened by separate individual users. The same user opening the site a number times will only be recorded once here.
Sent to MoE Repository: ‘Y’= Submitted. ‘N’=Not submitted.
The Sites by Tag area shows…
Total Sites:  The total numbers of sites created for a tag.
Unique Authors:  The number of users who have created a site for a tag.
Sent to MoE Repository: Sites sent to the MoE Repository for the tag as a percentage of the total.
The Sites by Author area shows…
Total Sites: The total number of sites created by a user.
Tags: The tags a user has created sites for.
Sent to MoE Repository: Sites sent to the MoE Repository by the author as a percentage of the total.

Assignments

The All Assignments view displays data for assignments as a table and line graph. Where data is available, a pie chart shows the most significant 10 items of information. You can see who issued each assignment, the tags it was issued for and the number of students it was issued to.
The table section displays the following information:
Title: The name of the assignment.
Author: The user that issues the assignment.
Tag: The tag the assignment was tagged under.
Assignees: The number of students the assignment was issued to.
The Assignments by Tag view also shows…
Unique Authors: The number of individual users who issued an assignment for a tag.
Total Assignments: The number of assignments issued for that tag.
Assignees: The number of students who have been issued an assignment for the tag.
The Assignments by Author view shows…
Total Assignments: The total number of assignments created by a user.
Unique Tags: The number of tags (tags) a user has issued assignments for.
Assignees: The number of students who have been issued an assignment by the user.

Users

The All Logins area displays login information as a table and line graph. Where data is available, a pie chart shows the most significant 10 items of information. You can see the number of users who have logged in over a given time period.
The table section displays the following information:
User name: The name of the user.
Profile: User type (staff, student, parent etc…).
Login Count: The number of times the user has logged in.
Form: Which year/form a student user is from.
Class: Which class a student user belongs to.
Average Session Time: The average time a user has spent logged into Frog.
Total Time in Frog: The total time spent logged into Frog.
Last Login: The last time a user last logged into Frog.
The Logins by Profile area shows…
Profile: User type (staff, student, parent etc…).
Total Users: The total number of users on the system for that profile.
Total Logins: The number of times all users of that profile type have logged in.
Unique Users: The number of individual users that have logged into Frog for that profile type. The same user logging in a number times will only be recorded once here.
Never Logged In: The number of users of that profile type that have never logged into Frog.
Average Session Time: The average time all users of that profile type that have spent logged into Frog.

Exporting Data

The analytical data can be saved in a CSV (comma separated values) file, suitable to be loaded into a spreadsheet. Click the Actions menu to export the data.image014
There are two option available:

  • Export filtered data to CSV (saves only the data after filtering. i.e. currently in view)
  • Export all data to CSV (saves all data regardless of any filtering)
