In our latest Ask Me Anything session, we’re pleased to have as our special guest Cikgu Norhailmi Abdul Mutalib, an inspiring science teacher from SMK Jerlun in Kedah and a Global Teacher Prize 2020 finalist to share about his thoughts and experiences on 21st century teaching and learning post-pandemic!

Currently in Malaysia, it’s been a month since students have all returned to school and teachers have been tasked to help their classrooms catch-up with the teaching syllabus. As a science teacher, facilitating a classroom to conduct science experiments has been a challenge because physical distancing is difficult in a large group. He decided to break down his classroom into smaller groups when demonstrating science experiments face-to-face. However, it’s repetitive and takes time.

With the help of blended learning, I’m able to speed up my process. Teachers also need to be a content expert so that they’re able to recognise and combine areas in the school curriculum to be done together!”
