The journey of learning should be one that introduces students to a world that opens doors to endless possibilities. At FrogAsia, we believe students need to be equipped with knowledge, skills and experiences that would help them thrive in a world that is constantly changing and evolving. In order to do so, we need to reimagine how children can learn today and provide them with that space to explore and expand their creativity.
We believe that learning should be fun, and can occur beyond books and the traditional learning methods. So, we gave it a thought - what if schools could come together to learn from one another and have a little fun at the same time? Thus began the Frog Championships! The Frog Championships brought school communities together to level up with gamified learning through FrogPlay. One school saw exceptional impact and improvement in results like never before, and that school is SK Sungai Lalang.
SK Sungai Lalang started its journey with Frog in 2016 when Puan Nur ‘Izzatie, who is now a Gold Advocate, attended the first Hubs session conducted in Kedah. It sparked her motivation to bring change to her school’s education through Frog. She was committed to using Frog in school and also encouraged other teachers to use Frog as well.
Throughout the Championships, the school came up with a variety of creative and engaging activities to get teachers and students on-board with Frog. Some of these interesting activities included drinking Milo or eating ice-cream while completing quizzes on FrogPlay. That is definitely unique way to motivate students to learn!
But the greatest impact seen was through the Frog Clinic, a programme to help students who were weak in their subjects or far behind during lessons. The school identified 18 students who previously failed all subjects in March and then created tailored quizzes that would help these students improve in their subjects. By the end of 2 months, all students improved their scores, and 9 of these struggling students have passed all their subjects!
“Majority of my students come from low income families who never had the chance to use a computer or laptop. So when they were introduced to Chromebooks and FrogPlay, they were all extremely excited! We use what we have and lack of devices has never been a factor to stop us from teaching and learning with Frog.” - Puan Nur ‘Izzatie, Frog Admin of SK Sungai Lalang, Kedah.
